The installation ‘Towards Weightlessness’ depicts the beginning of a sidewalk, a path. The heavy concrete paving stones represent direction and efficiency. Gradually and playfully, they change meaning. ‘Direction’ becomes a place (hopscotch game) and a ‘efficiency’ a slowed-down pace (cushion). The tiles become lighter in material (fabric) and change shape (a spiral) and end in the weightless shadow of a line. Back to the meaningless, the (almost) nothing. In removing meaning or purpose, in destroying the symbol, the indeterminate is celebrated and responds to the desire to slow down.
